Position Title:  Mortgage Loan Officer

Location: St. Louis, MO (various branch locations surrounding Greater STL)

Position Summary:
The Loan Officer proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals.  The Loan Officer also provides initial quality control review on all loan origination packages submitted to processing team.
 
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serve as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated by individual sources and from company marketing channels.
  • Consults with borrowers on the types of loans and credit options available for their status, reviews guidelines to ensure borrowers qualify, explain and set expectations with borrowers on the loan process.
  • Takes a full and complete loan application; review all loan documents and ensure that they are complete and accurate according to all policies, procedures and compliance regulations.
  • Ensures complete and accurate information is entered and maintained into Mortgage Loan Origination systems, tools and databases.
  • Works within compliance in regards to timelines, works professionally and as a team with internal mortgage operations professionals.
  • Corresponds and communicates with prospective borrowers by phone, email or in person in order to analyze financial and credit information, determine customer financing objectives, advice customers of products, pricing and guideline policies and procedures and request or gather any required documentation.
  • Ensures exceptional customer service, demonstrates a commitment to professional ethics and complies with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements.
  • Uses discretion and confidentiality as needed for the position.
  • Handles all customer concerns and inquiries and takes appropriate action to resolve.
  • Completes all required company training, stays up to date on mortgage industry trends, regulations, polices, etc. through research, networking and professional organizations. 
  • Stays in compliance and up to date to all company standard policies and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of all lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains a current/active NMLS license for each state in which business is conducted.
  • May manage a Loan Officer Assistant. Will work with Assistant with on-boarding procedures, setting expectations, annual reviews and to provide training as necessary
 
Position Requirements:
 
  • Minimum high school diploma. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior experience in residential mortgage sales. Must hold experience self-generating leads
  • Must hold a proven track record of success and an established network of referral sources
  • Understanding of the mortgage loan process: processing, underwriting, and closing procedures
  • Knowledge of both Conventional and Government lending guidelines
  • Computer skills to include working with databases, accessing rates, credit and loan status information
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Work cooperatively with and maintain effective communication with customers, co-workers, and manager
  • Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial data and provide financial alternatives
  • Must possess good judgment, be able to accept responsibility and handle confidential information
  • Time management skills and the ability to organize prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
